You will interact with customers, corporate personnel, and sales personnel to contribute to the development and implementation of key process improvements.

You will have the opportunity to work on assignments that are extremely complex in nature where effective critical thinking skills need to be coupled with a high degree of ambition to solve problems.

Some of your responsibilities will include: Technical Operations leadership, Customer Service support, Logistics management, and Quality Systems oversight.

You will be required to act independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments.

Key Objectives:

1. You will manage laboratory Operations to budgeted financial objectives with Profit and Loss (P&L) responsibilities.
2. You will manage and control key variable expense accounts, technical and administrative staff.
3. You will maintain appropriate levels of accreditation and scope as defined by management; enhancement and expansion of the laboratory scope of accreditation (UKAS, KEMA, and ISO/IEC 17025 Quality System).
4. You will instill operational process efficiencies to reduce costs and provide technical support for sales and operational efforts.
5. You will manage service performance of the laboratory to corporate objectives and assist technical staff in the analysis and resolution of complex problems commonly found in TMDE.
6. You will manage the laboratory assets to maximize the utilization and leverage of assets, and you will ascertain lab capabilities where relevant.
7. You will support the Regional Director/VP in key initiatives and projects.
8. You will make recommendations for asset acquisition with appropriate justification.

Complete support of process instruments products, field repairs and assisting all associated departments; assure customer satisfaction, making own travel arrangements for local and international field service visits; telephone support; quote repair cost; process spare parts orders and construction of service test fixtures; provide customer product training; quote instrument retrofits complete with instructions; provide customer calibration/troubleshooting assistance.

Job Requirements:
Possess a combination of education, training, and experience to obtain knowledge and abilities generally equivalent to those typically possessed by a high school graduate. Demonstrated experience with automated calibration programs and datasheet generating systems, manufacturer specification interpretation, and able to make recommendations based on those specifications. Demonstrated ability to understand, calculate and report measurement uncertainties. Understanding and working knowledge of the requirements to maintain a quality program to the following standards and accreditation programs: NIST/NVLAP, Mil-Std 45662A, ANSI/NCSL Z540-1994, and ISO 17025. Demonstrated ability to understand and calculate uncertainties pertaining to measurement disciplines. Demonstrated experience planning, organizing, and coordinating numerous jobs and assignments simultaneously, prioritizing changing workloads, and maintaining a high level of accuracy under tight time constraints. Demonstrated ability to work independently to build and maintain relationships with team and customers. Should also possess team leadership skills, good written communication and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to accurately analyze information & make sound decisions. Demonstrate the ability to take initiative and accountability for the accuracy of information and for achieving results.

Typical Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will report to the Metrology Supervisor, and provides direct support to customers of Southern California Edison. Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to: calibration of M&TE and standards in the metrology laboratories, working with fellow Metrologists and team members to ensure customer requirements and expectations are met with the highest degree of accuracy and attention to detail while meeting the requirements of the Metrology quality program and customer delivery expectations. Managing work assignments and schedule, establishing priorities, and accurate customer communication. Establishing consistent communication with Metrology Processing to ensure proper management of turn around goals and quality objectives. Supporting other Metrologists as needed, and performing other duties as assigned.
